Date and Location

Location can make or break an event. Consider accessibility, public transportation, cost and a day that works for your team. Some ideas are:

Public Parks
Parks are good locations for most sporting events, picnics, carnivals and the like. It can work for events that include pets as well.

Local Eateries and Bars
Most restaurants in your community are happy to help. Some may kick-back a percentage of the revenue from your party. Others may offer meals for raffle gifts.

Community Groups and Organizations
Every community has organizations that have meeting/event halls. Some of them rent them out, or presented with a cause, they may donate the space.

Schools and Universities
Having an event at a local school or university is a real community pleaser. Sometimes you can get the school to support your efforts and it helps spread the word.

Shopping Centers
Business owners are usually very supportive of charities and may allow you to set up a display in front of their business. This is a very effective way to sell raffle tickets, especially on busy shopping days or holidays when traffic is heavy.

Parking Lots
Malls, large shopping centers and office buildings (generally closed on Sundays) usually have large parking lots. Ideal for a car wash, flea market, book fair or perhaps the starting/finishing line for a walk or run. There may be no charge or a small fee for security and/or maintenance.

The Beach
Fun in the sun! It’s great for all ages and includes a full day of entertainment. This location is excellent for a walk or run, a volley ball tournament, family picnic or sand castle contest.
