Support Me

Research has indicated that approximately 1 in 4 adults in the U.S. live with a mental health condition in any given year. For children, that number is approximately 1 in 5. Yet when looking at benefit events held in the area, we found that they raised funds for cancers, MS, and heart health, to name a few, but little to nothing for mental health. Given the prevalence with which mental health conditions affect the population, this seemed rather alarming. We set out to create an event that allowed us to increase awareness about mental health, as well as raise funds that can help important research in the field – research to improve understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health conditions. We wanted to design something a bit different than the traditional walk, to perhaps stand out among the large number of other fundraising events in the region. Thus, the trail hike was born.
