Ms. Corby Lyons O’Connor, 64, died on March 2, 2020. All services were private.

Born and raised in the Bronx, Ms. O’Connor lived in Rochester, NY, Darien, CT,  Buffalo, NY, Essex Fells, NJ and Alexandria, VA before returning back to New Jersey. She earned a B.A. in Communications from Fordham University and a M.A. in Strategic Communication and Leadership from Seton Hall University.  She also specialized in Business Etiquette, was an accomplished seamstress and her needlepoint and embroidery projects were works of art.   

She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph Lyons and Rita Lyons Kurz and her beloved step-father, Artie Kurz.

Ms. O’Connor is survived by her sons, Timothy (Stacey), Brian (Claire) and Colin O’Connor, grandchildren, Ellie Mae and Luke Fitzpatrick O’Connor and her sister, Lynn Lyons Wynne (Dan) and nephew Daniel (Jaclyn).

She felt strongly about organizations like the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation.  Donations in her memory to the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation, would be appreciated. The BBRF is an organization that is “committed to alleviating the suffering caused by mental illness by awarding grants that will lead to advances and breakthroughs in scientific research.”



100% of every dollar donated for research is invested in our research grants. Our operating expenses are covered by separate foundation grants.
