| More About Me:Right Handed or Left Handed: Mostly right What is your favorite word? I’m not sure it’s my favorite, but I find myself using the word “ridiculous” a lot. Maybe I should tone it down a bit… What place in the world would you most like to visit? Any tropical island in the Pacific, Fiji perhaps? Do you have any nicknames? Well, my mom has called me Kook since the day I was born…I have no idea why. But once my friends found out, it stuck, and unfortunately, probably always will. But my favorite nickname is actually “daddy”:) - sounds so wonderful when it rolls off my kids’ tongues! What was the last song that played on your iPod? Many of Horror, by Biffy Clyro Favorite TV show: The Office: it is so delightfully painful to watch! Desk: messy or organized? Ultra-organized How many languages can you speak and what are they? Two: English and Scientific Jargon Do you play any instruments? Air guitar AND air drums Your Perfect Pizza: Buffalo wing sauce, chicken breast, crumbly bleu cheese, mozzarella, and creamy bleu cheese for dipping…yum! If I was not doing what I am doing today, I might be working as: A floor associate at Home Depot…I’m there often enough, I might as well get the employee discount! Here is what I'd like to share with the world: The vision of my lab, the Psychiatric Genetic Epidemiology & Neurobiology (PsychGENe) Lab, is that we will discover the causes of major mental illnesses and develop prevention strategies founded on those discoveries, in order to alleviate the human suffering caused by these disorders. We work hard every day to hasten the research discoveries that will improve the lives of people touched in one way or another by these disorders. This work consumes us. But what drives us the most is hearing from the people we are trying to serve: those with a mental illness, their family members, and other advocates…so please, reach out and inspire us! |
