About My Work:

My field of study is: Childhood Mental Health Disorders - Dr. Amy RoyPediatric Neuroscience

I enjoy this because: There is nothing more fascinating than exploring how the brain functions in healthy children and in those suffering from emotional disorders.

I am currently working on: Two functional imaging studies. First, a functional MRI study of adolescents with generalized anxiety disorder that takes a comprehensive approach to the study of underlying neural mechanisms. Second, with support from NARSAD, I am conducting a study of young children, ages 5- 9, with severe temper outbursts that uses novel resting state approaches to examine disruptions in emotion regulation circuits.

Here is what I'd like to share with the world:I'd like to share my passion for understanding why some children and adolescents struggle with anxiety and sadness and the importance of educating the public about the need to identify and treat these youth. "Don't worry, he'll grow out of it" is not always the right answer.
